Latin Club (1 hour)
I recently joined Latin Club at school. It is on Thursdays for an hour. I really enjoy learning new languages, and when I found out that school had a Latin Club I knew I had to try it out. So far it is a very easy language to learn and we are working through the first chapter of Latin Made Simple. It is very necessary for me to learn Latin since I aspire to be an archaeologist. Since I have a lot of background in spanish I hope it will help me catch on to Latin faster. Mr. Wilson is the advisor and he is very proficient in Latin so I am especially excited to learn from him since he is also my english teacher.
World Vision Volunteering
It has been two months since I began volunteering at World Vision. To date I have volunteered about 16 hours total. Since school has began picking up speed, I adjusted my time to attending every other week to be able to fit in more activities. At World Vision I work in the mail room where we put together packets for the children to be able to get sponsored. We are called to quickly pray over each child that they would get a sponsor. Sometimes the work is tedious and repetitive, but on occasion we get new tasks to complete, like mailing out letters to people who have sponsored a child. The people I work with are great, most of them are on staff, but there are a few that volunteer as well.
Cello Lessons (1 hour)
About two weeks ago I began my cello lessons. So far we have started with Twinkle Twinkle Little Star in numerous variations. I have had to learn to read the bass cleft, which is not too hard to do. In elementary school we had music classes so I have already been exposed to treble cleft. Since I have never played a string instrument with a bow, it is a little difficult to maneuver the bow. Overall I am picking the instrument up pretty fast and I try to practice frequently. This next week we will be starting a new song called French Folk Song. We will see how it turns out!
